LUGARI MP Cyrus Jirongo is set to move to a new political party in a week’s time after his fall out with Eldoret North MP William Ruto. The MP yesterday said his stay in the United Republican Party  was no longer tenable due to his differences with Ruto. “His stay in URP is untenable as we all have figured out,” Jirongo said through his spokesman yesterday. The Lugari MP was said to be considering Ruto’s former party, UDM. Jirongo, Trade minister Moses Wetang’ula, Justice minister Eugene Wamalwa and Bifwoli Wakoli recently promised to form an alliance.
Sources said Wetang’ula prefers forming an alliance with PM Raila Odinga but Jirongo is vehemently opposed to the idea and wants an alliance with Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka. Jirongo, who spoke through his spokesman, pleaded with his supporters to give him a week before he declares his new political vehicle. The Lugari MP recently drew the fury of President Kibaki when he claimed that URP and five other parties are state house projects. Other parties he claims to be state house projects are The National Alliance of Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta, DPM Musalia Mudavadi’s United Democratic Front, Raphael Tuju’s Party of Action and the Restore and Build Kenya party of former Education PS James ole Kiyiapi. State house denied the claims.
