I am not going back to ODM, declares Mudavadi
Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi has wished away intentions of moving back to ODM despite the party amending its constitution to allow members to challenge the party leader for the flagbearer's seat. Mudavadi said he was comfortable in UDF. “There is no looking back any more to where we have come from. I am focusing on winning the presidential election on a UDF ticket,” said Mudavadi. He said lack of democracy in ODM and dictatorship within the party had seen him and other leaders quit the party saying amendment of the party constitution will not lure him back.
Speaking in Bomet during his second day of campaigns in Bomet and Kericho, Mudavadi intensified his criticism on ODM and Prime Minister Raila Odinga calling on him to step aside to pave the way for the younger generation to take over the leadership. In an apparent reference to his political ally-turned-foe, the DPM said it was time for older politicians to step aside and allow the younger generation to take over the mantle of leadership.
“Athletes like Kipchoge Keino also contributed greatly to the athletic success in Kenya and we greatly appreciate them. They have now passed on the baton to younger runners like Asbel Kiprop who are faster,” Mudavadi said. The Sabatia MP was accompanied by MPs Boni Khalwale, Justus Kizito, and Jeremiah Kioni and nominated MP George Nyamwea in his tour of the region where he said he was keen to win the presidential contest in the first round.
