IEBC cancels BVR tender

Monday, the 30th of July 2012 - The Isaack Hassan led Independent Elections and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has finally bowed to pressure and canceled the Biometric Voter Registration tender it had awarded to a Kenyan company called Symphony.
The IEBC gave no reasons for its cancelation but many are speculating that it has everything to do with the pressure that has been put on the commission since it was revealed that all the firms it had short-listed- including the one it had awarded the tender to – did not meet its own conditions for awarding the tender.
It seems the pressure from lobby groups and politicians has finally paid off.
