Kiyiapi questions the credibility of opinions
Restore and Build Kenya presidential aspirant James Kiyiapi has questioned the credibility of opinion polls that have continuously banished his bid. The former education PS, who resigned early this year to contest the presidency, said there are force who manipulate statistics to discourage their opponents. Kiyiapi challenged the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission to take stock of all the opinion polls and demand the poll sheets so that aspirants' campaign teams can look into the matrix.
He challenged all presidential contenders to contribute and select a neutral poll agent. “If it comes out that I do not feature in any of the polls, then I will resign in broad daylight from the presidential race,” Kiyiapi said. At the same time, Kiyiapi has scoffed at MPs who want to push the elections to August 2013. “These are the people who are going to make us not realise the dream that we had when we passed the new constitution,” he said.
He accused the MPs behind the push for August 2013 election for plotting to frustrate the implementation of the new constitution and deny Kenyans the new dawn that they have yearned for for a long time. “These parliamentarians should be serious and instead of trying to push the elections to August they should amend the constitution and give us a fixed date and month to be holding the elections and not try to water down the constitution,” he said.
