United Republican Party has called on Amagoro MP Sospeter Ojaamong to quit ODM and join the William Ruto led party. Medical Services assistant minister Kazungu Kambi said his Labour assistant counterpart was his friend and “I don't want him to remain in a ‘sinking ship’. “Tell him to come to the house with cold water and where Ruto is the presidential aspirant," Kambi said.
Speaking in Teso during Ruto's meet-the-people tour at the weekend, the Kaloleni MP said they will write to the MP requesting him to join URP. But in a quick rejoinder, Ojaamong said it will be foolhardy for him to abandon the main house to occupy a granary. “That will be the highest degree of madness. Poll rating gives ODM a head start to warrant Kambi's SOS call to me to ditch a party is a stone throw away from assuming the reins of power," he said.
Instead, Ojaamong told Ruto and his team to come back to the Orange party following the amendment of the party constitution. Ruto’s day-long tour to Teso North and South district received another boost with the joining of former District ODM chairman, Vincent Okochil. Speaking in Amukura where Ruto held another rally, Okochil said they were birds of a feather after being ejected from ODM.
