THE Kenya Defence Force has warned Kenyans intending to join the military not to fall prey to fraudsters who have defrauded people of more than 21 million shillings in the last four years. Vice Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant General Samson Mwathethe yesterday announced that the 28-day recruitment exercise will begin on July 30.
Mwathethe, who was accompanied by assistant Chief of Defence Force and officer in-charge of Personnel and Logistics Major General Gordon Kihalangwa and head of Military Police Lt Colonel Sylvester Chirchir said KDF intends to reduce cases of fraud in the recruitment exercise. "The recruitment process has been strengthened to reduce fraud cases and will be open to all. Several control measures have been put in place in all recruitment centres. We are cautioning members of public from falling prey to fraudsters. Soliciting or offering a bribe is criminal and offenders will be prosecuted. Let it be known that there is zero tolerance to corruption in KDF," Lt Gen Mwathethe said.
