The Alliance Party of Kenya leader Kiraitu Murungi on Saturday said he was not interested in being the running mate of any presidential candidate.
Mr Murungi said those who were scouting out for him for a running mate position must craft a new strategy to win as he is not interested.
Last week, United Republic Party leader William Ruto hinted that he would pick Mr Murungi as his running mate
Speaking in Meru when he met a PCEA leaders delegation, Mr Murungi said unless top G7 presidential candidates unite and support one of their own, their chances of winning the General Election were dim.
“Top candidates should ask themselves whether they are capable of winning,” the Energy minister said.
Mr Murungi said APK would only support one of the G7 candidates after vetting them.
On the elections date, the minister opposed a scheme to push for an August 2013 date, describing it as impossible and impractical.
Separately, Imenti North MP Silas Muriuki and Tigania West MP Kiremi Mwiria supported the March 2013 date.
