Kanu will field its presidential candidate during the forthcoming General Election, national chairman Gideon Moi has said.
Speaking at the weekend during the launch of the party’s national campaigns in Chepalungu, Mr Moi said the presidential nominee would be picked after the party’s grassroots and national elections slated for next month.
The former Baringo Central MP said that the party would go it alone in the elections, and that it would not enter into any alliances with other parties in its quest for the top seat.
“We’ll fight it to the bitter end and will not stop in the middle of the race and support any of the presidential candidate vying for the top seat from other parties,” he said.
The party nominations, Mr Moi said, would be free and fair.
He at the same time censured politicians who are allegedly peddling falsehoods that the party was long dead.
“If it is true the party id dead as critics would want Kenyans belief, why was it registered in the first place by the registrar of the political parties?” he said.
He told Chepalungu residents that Kanu would ensure that prices of essential commodities are affordable, like it was during his father’s regime, if Kanu forms the next government.

Mr Moi said that the party would hold rallies in all parts of the country to popularise itself.
The party’s secretary general Nick Salat, vice chairman Shadrack Manga, national treasurer Erneo Nyakiba, national organising secretary Bafadhil Abdulrahaman accompanied Mr Moi at the function.
Mr Salat decried increasing insecurity, arguing that during the retired president tenure of office, the security of all Kenyans was guaranteed. He asked the government to protect Kenyans from frequent attacks by Al-Shabaab.
