ISO firm threatens to sue City HallWritten By:Sylvester Ruto, Posted: Mon, Jul 09, 2012 | ||
Dutch Quality Systems Kenya which issued the City Council of Nairobi with the controversial ISO certificate is now threatening to sue the council for non-payment of the fee for certification.
In a letter to Nairobi Town Clerk Roba Duba, DQS Managing Director Charles Karobia said the Council did not pay for the services rendered contrary to the earlier claims by the current Town Clerk Roba Duba that a sum of 20 million shillings had been paid to the local standardization firm.
Duba announced that the remaining amount would not be settled after the Kenya Accreditation Services - KENAS declared the City Council of Nairobi's ISO certificate fake.
On Sunday, Duba's predecessor Philip Kisia defended the council over the controversial ISO Certificate.
He said due process was followed but blamed the controversy on the rivalry between DQS-Kenya and KENAS.
Kisia who resigned last month to contest the governorship insisted that the ISO certification process was clean and genuine.
The City Council of Nairobi was stripped off its ISO certification last week after KENAS claimed that DQS Kenya is not authorized to issue ISO certificates in the country.
The Council of Nairobi had been awarded an ISO certification for introducing e-payments, adopting ICT, purging graft and cutting ghost workers. The award raised eyebrows across all quarters.
