Deputy Prime minister Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday hit out at ODM for branding their political opponents as non-reformers.
He said the country needed a new crop of leaders, noting that Kenya had already realised the envisaged reforms when the Constitution was enacted and it now needed a leader to implement the law and steer the country to greater heights.
Speaking at Kairuni Stadium when he wound up his two-day tour of Tharaka-Nithi County, Mr Kenyatta said those who had fought for the reforms should pave the way for a younger generation to implement them.
He said Prime Minister Raila Odinga was still fascinated by his reform credentials which blinded his focus on the remaining task of making the reforms work.
“Some people are still living in the past and think that things are still the same,” said Mr Kenyatta.
He said the country required a generation change and accused Mr Odinga of being resistant to change.
“We are tired of looking at the world through the rear view mirror. He (Mr Odinga) is saying that the competition will be between reformists and non-reformists. The actual competition will be between the old and the young generation,” said Mr Kenyatta.
He, however, added that he had great respect for the old and in his administration, they would be retained to offer advice.

Public Works assistant Mwangi Kiunjuri said Mr Kenyatta should not be challenged to demonstrate his reform credentials as he was too young to take part in the fight for independence and multipartyism.
Agriculture assistant minister Kareke Mbiuki and his Tourism counterpart Cecily Mbarire and Chuka mayor John Mbaabu said the Constitution had addressed the issues they fought for in the second liberation.
They urged Energy minister Kiraitu Murungi to join TNA and seek the party’s nomination. Makadara MP Mike Mbuvi alias Sonko accused the National Cohesion and Integration Commission of targeting musicians from the region in its hate speech investigations.
