The Orange Democratic Movement top decision making organ, the National Governing Council, is set to meet Friday to change the party’s controversial nomination and elections rules.
Also in the agenda is the confirmation of a proposal to hold the party’s National Delegates Conference next month.
Controversy over the party rules caused the dramatic parting of ways between the party leader Raila Odinga and his former deputy Musalia Mudavadi.
The two had differed on how to handle the nomination with Mudavadi demanding a County to County nomination while Mr Odinga preferred a collegiate election.
Also contentious was a clause giving the party leader an express ticket to run for the presidency.
The party’s director of elections Joseph Misoi said the meeting has been called to make good a promise earlier made by the party that the nominations and election rules would be amended.
“We had planned all along to make changes to this rules as per the feelings of our members and tomorrow (Friday) we are meeting to do just that so that the whole world can see that when Mudavadi left he did so not because of this but for other reasons,” Dr Misoi said on Wednesday.
The party leadership will also use the meeting to set rules to guide its nomination process for all the other levels of elections from the county to the presidency.

Dr Misoi told the Nation that the NGC will also set the exact date for the party’s National Delegates Conference (NGC) in which new office bearers would be elected.
Mr Odinga, the party chairman Henry Kosgey and secretary general Anyang’ Nyong’o and other top officials of the party will also attend the meeting.
The party secretariat’s executive director Janet Ongera said that the NGC will be held at the Bomas of Kenya.
“Only party MPs, 47 branch chairmen, NEC Members and members of the Standing Committees of the party are expected to attend,” she said.
The NDC will have to ratify the decisions made by the NGC to legitimise them before they can be operationalised.
