More than a dozen families in Mwingi, Kitui County, are preparing to bury relatives killed in last Sunday’s attack on two churches in Garissa town.
Fourteen of the 17 victims killed in the church attacks are from the larger Mwingi area.
The affected villages in Mwingi South and Mwingi North Constituencies are yet to come to terms with the death of loved ones.
The victims’ families have planned a joint requiem Mass tomorrow at Musila gardens in Mwingi town before proceeding for separate burial ceremonies.
Mwingi Central district commissioner Peter Kinuthia said the government would transport the bodies up to burial sites.
Vice-President Kalonzo Musyoka, who is the Mwingi North MP, and his Mwingi South counterpart, Defence assistant minister David Musila are expected to attend the prayers.
The two condemned the attacks and called for calm as the criminals are pursued.
