Former Emuhaya MP and Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs, Sheldon Muchilwa, is dead.
The former legislator died at 10 am Monday morning at Nairobi Hospital where he had been hospitalized for three months.
According to one his confidants, Ali Sabatia, of United Nations Environmental Programme, Mr. Muchilwa was admitted to the hospital suffering from diabetes and hypertension.
The late Muchilwa represented Emuhaya for 10 successive years before he was ousted by the current Speaker of the National Assembly, Mr. Kenneth Marende in 2002.
Throughout his tenure as an MP he was also an Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs.
Ali described the former legislator as a leader who left an indelible mark in the constituency. He said that the deceased was since 1992, when he was first elected to parliament, known for being friendly and out to fight poverty in the area.
Before his debut into politics Mr. Muchilwa, 72, was the Chief Government Printer. He is survived by 18 children and two wives. He lost his other wife to breast cancer.
