MY JOURNEY WITH JARAMOGI

A book detailing some of the secrets of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga’s life and times will be launched today.

The book, My Journey with Jaramogi …Memoirs of a Close Confidant authored by retired journalist Mzee Odinge Odera hits the streets and bookshelves today.

In the biography, Odera writes: "In many ways Jaramogi was like a pumped football, which will not sink in water no matter how hard one tries."

The guest of honour at the book launch will be Jaramogi’s son, Prime Minister Raila Odinga, at a function scheduled for the Sarova PanAfric Hotel at 5.30pm.

The book is published by Africa Research and Resource Forum and has a foreword written by Prof Michael Chege.

The Post Script is written by Prof Anyang’ Nyong’o, the Minister for Medical Services.

In the book, Odera traces his association with one of Kenya’s most revered political legends from his days at Maseno School in the early 1950s till the doyen of Opposition politics in 1992.

The book pokes holes in Jaramogi’s career faulting how he often distrusted young educated Africans and how he commanded loyal support from semi-literate folks.
