The late Jaramogi Oginga Odinga has been honored posthumously through a book depicting his plight in his efforts to making a difference in the post and pre independence period. Jaramogi is arguably one of the most influential politicians died more than a decade and a half ago but his legacy lives on.
The book by Odinge Odera, one of the many Kenyans who shared time and times with Kenya's first post independent vice president, is perhaps one of the few books written in honor of Kenyan heroes by a Kenyan.
At his age perhaps Odera is the most qualified for the task of putting his memories to paper and just like Odera, a man who had the opportunity to work hand in hand with Jaramogi, Professor Anyang Nyong'o too attended the memorable event that ensures that Kenyans share in his knowledge in the journey of life having shared political platforms with the late Jaramogi.
Also present to officially launch the book was non other than one of Jaramogi's sons Raila odinga, who has a page in the country's history book. Raila urged scholars and writers to do more writing for the future generations.
It was a social event that could not end without a political twist. Raila called on Kenyans to ensure the current generation goes down in history as the generation that presided over the writing of a new constitution.
