Prime Minister Raila Odinga left the country Saturday for a two-day official visit to Egypt where talks on the review of the Nile treaty are likely to take precedence.
Odinga is expected to hold bilateral talks with Egyptian President Horsni Mubarak and the Secretary General of the Arab League Amr Musaa on possible ways of promoting trade between Kenya and Egypt.
The government delegation will also meet the business community from the Arab world.
The team which includes cabinet ministers is scheduled to later make similar trips to several European countries including Norway, United Kingdom and France.
The Trip to Egypt comes in the wake of mounting pressure by several nations within the Nile catchment area to push for the review of the colonial Nile treaty.
Water Minister Charity Ngilu last week signed on behalf of the government a petition against the treaty which gives Egypt and Sudan the better share of the water resource at the expense of other states upstream.
