A fresh internal dispute has emerged in the Truth, Justice and Reconciliation commission even as it begun visiting parts of Kenya in preparation for public hearings.
The dispute revolves around embattled chairman Bethuel Kiplagat and fellow commissioners over the itinerary for the visit to Mt Elgon and parts of the Rift Valley.
Commissioners and members of TJRC staff who spoke to the Nation said the chairman had embarked on “lone ranger tactics” for most of the time they have been in the west of the country.
The commission began its visits on Tuesday this week and it is understood the dispute arose after Mr Kiplagat presented an itinerary different from the one that had been agreed upon.
The commissioners had planned to visit areas of Mt Elgon where atrocities were committed while Mr Kiplagat planned to visit Eldoret and areas hit by the post-election violence.
