KISUMU SHOOTINGS

Two workers of a Kisumu petrol station were Monday morning shot dead by a lone gun man at Migosi junction along the Kisumu- Kakamega highway.

The two were attacked as they ferried 3.1 million shillings belonging to Magharibi petrol station to a local bank in Kisumu.

According to an eye witness, the attacker had waylaid the pick up the two were travelling in. He then tried to force the driver to open the door but he refused killing the two instantly.

Another passenger travelling in the vehicle escaped unhurt. Locals say the man had arrived at Migosi junction aboard motorcycle shortly before the pickup ferrying the money to local bank arrived.

He then opened fire after the driver refused to open the door killing the two on the spot before escaping to the sprawling obunga slums on foot.

The suspect however did not make away with the money which was recovered by police. Police suspect the gangster had trailed the pickup all the way from one of the petrol filling stations in Luanda.

Area OCPD John Mwizi said police were combing the area in a bid to arrest the suspect.

Area locals are now calling on the police to put up a police patrol base at the junction terming it a hot spot for gangsters.
