The Ford People candidate in the South Mugirango by-election has asked PNU to hold nominations and pick the best candidate to represent it.

Mr Manson Oyongo was reacting to reports that Vice-President Kalonzo Musyoka and Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta would support Mr Omingo Magara of DPD to reclaim the seat he lost in a poll petition.

“Mr Magara has been in ODM and the small party he has decamped to is affiliated to ODM. Why should PNU members support him in the by-election?” Mr Oyongo asked.

And the PNU chairman in South Mugirango has defected. Mr Rashid Oyongo declared his defection to PDK during the burial of Mr Magara’s brother in Nyatike.

He accused the party’s top organs of not consulting branch officials.
