What is FRED GUMO suffering from? This is it….

Saturday July 28, 2012 - Regional Development Minister Fred Gumo who is spending his third day in hospital bed at Aga Khan Hospital, is suffering from an ailment commonly referred to as Deep Vein Thrombosis (DPT).

According to a doctor who spoke to the DAILY POST on condition of anonymity, the doctor said immediately after his return from China, the Minister collapsed at his house where he complained of legs and joints breakdown.

Deep Vein Thrombosis is a common condition which affects mainly aged people and it is caused by prolonged travel and sitting, such as long air plane flights ("economy class syndrome"), car, or train travel.

Due to prolonged sitting, high blood pressure or diabetes, blood clot in the veins and this brings about partial malfunctioning of the heart.

The Westlands MP, who is a key ally of Prime Minister Raila Odinga, was admitted on his return from China where he was part of a Government delegation led by Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

As we went on press on Saturday, the Minister was in stable condition.

We at the DAILY POST we wish the Minister quick recovery!
