Saturday July 28, 2012 - Eldoret North MP William Ruto has asked Immigration Minister Otieno Kajwang to resign over corruption scandal involving issuance of identity cards (ID) to the youth.

Speaking during his presidential campaign rally in Trans Nzoia County on Friday, Ruto said the government waived fees charged before acquiring ID cards to speed up the issuance, but Kajwang and other senior Immigration officials introduced other fees in order to fill their own pockets.

“Kajwang should perform or quit so that the job can be given to a serious person who can perform,” Ruto said.

Ruto said Orange party pretends to be full of reformers, but recently truth has been unearthed by Miguna Miguna’s book Peeling Back the Mask: A Quest for Justice in Kenya.

Ruto said among the top leaders in ODM, it is only a few who have not been mentioned in major corruption scandals rocking the country.

He expressed optimism that he and his party United Republic Party (URP) will be part of the next government after President Kibaki exit.
