Martha Karua to host a 10,000 per plate fundraiser today

Friday, the 27^th of July 2012 - In a bid to boost her campaign’s ‘war chest’, Narc-Kenya presidential aspirant is scheduled to host a KSH 10,000 per plate fundraiser at the Carnivore Restaurant in Nairobi later today.

The fundraiser is expected to be attended by a veritable who’s-who of Nairobi’s power brokers and business elite who might want to curry favour with the out-spoken minister if she becomes the next occupant of State House. 

The fundraiser has been organized by the former Kibaki loyalist’s campaign secretariat which is led by Hussein Mohamed. It is believed to be the first of several such events that are designed to both drum up support for Karua’s presidential ambitions and also get funds to keep her bid financially afloat. This strategy is Obama-esqu in its people centeredness and a member of the organizing committee admitted as much;

"We are the first party to use the strategy which was successfully used by Obama in 2008. We want Kenyans to start investing in their politicians by contributing to their campaigns."

The same strategy was used by Raila’s campaign juggernaut a few weeks ago but on that occasion guest were expected to cough up some KSH100,000 for the honour of breaking bread with the PM
