The day Miguna Miguna wrestled Ruto down

Thursday July 12, 2012 - In his bookPeeling Back the Mask: A Quest for Justice in Kenya, the former Raila Odinga’s advisor Miguna Miguna portrays himself as fiercely loyal to Raila, that he was ready and willing to kill for him.

In one incident, he recalls tackling to the ground a man he mistakenly believed was out to harm Raila. That man turned out to be Chepalungu MP Isaac Ruto.

The incident according to Miguna happened during a commotion when a security officer lashed out at Mvita MP Najib Balala with a baton as the ODM team left KICC on December 29

“Balala startled, moved quickly to his right causing pandemonium. In the confusion I saw a man edging closer to Raila. I quickly tackled him to the ground, and was still holding him by the scruff of his neck when I heard Omingo Magara (South Mugirango MP- elect) shouting ‘Hey Miguna, that’s one of our MPs!’ I let go of the man quickly, apologising ….. The man I had nearly squashed was Chepalungu MP elect Isaac Ruto”
