SHOCKING details: Mutula Kilonzo assassination, Imanyara threats and Nairobi bombings

Wednesday, July 11, 2012 - On June 26, Education Minister Mutula Kilonzo said in parliament that somebody was issuing death threats to him and his family via SMS.

Yesterday, at a Nairobi court, a 25 year old girl confessed to sending the threatening text messages to the influential minister.

In her confession, Irene Thuku said her employer who she identified as Boniface instructed her to send the messages. She further added that her employer had tight connections with the Al Shabaab militia and was involved with the Kenyatta Avenue’s Assanands House blast that killed one and injured scores of others.

The court asked the investigation team to furnish the courts everything about the lady before making a ruling on July 25. Among the things to be investigated is her marital status, her family background and any children if any.

The series of text messages read and I quote:

“Minister Mutula Kilonzo be ready to die. We were send (sic) by our boss to come to ur place RUNDA this weekend and shot (shot) you to death.”

“So Mutula be ready to die this coming wkd we will even expose ur whole house in runda,”

The suspected man is said to be in connection with a series of grenade attacks including Ngara, Moi Avenue and Mombasa.

The texts followed:

“Our boss works as a caretaker …on State House Road and that he is da one who send us to threten IMANYARA”

“.. He has big connection na ALL-SHABAAB He is our BOSS. We Av done many explosion with him,”

Mutula joined the list of ministers and MPs who in the past have received blunt death threats over the past years.
