Robbery at Paramount Bank in West lands

Robbery at Paramount Bank in West lands

Friday, July 20, 2012 - In a dramatic robbery that has left customers and employees of Paramount Bank in West lands fuddled, robbers have managed to escape with Sh. 3 million in local and foreign currencies in Motorcycles.

According to eye witnesses, the robbers entered the banking hall disguised as customers before they ordered the cashiers to hand over all the money they had at their disposal, the two thugs are said to have been armed with pistols and threatened to shoot the employees and
security guards if they raised alarm.

Nairobi PPO, Anthony Kibuchi arrived at the scene of incident and has pointed out that the morning incident might be an inside job as the robbers acted too cautiously.

Kibuchi has reported that they have arrested two managers from the Bank for questioning.

The incident has added the number of robbery incidents in Nairobi to at least 5 this year, with the most recent being Chase Bank’s Kileleshwa branch where at least Sh. 30 million was robbed from the bank on Sunday.

A couple has since then been arrested and Sh. 3.8 million recovered, the money is believed to be some of the money from the robbery.

Kibuchi claimed that the Chase bank incident was also an inside job as no alarm was raised despite the safe room where the money was stored being installed with a smoke &  motion detector and other security measures.

Investigations on the two incidents are still underway.
