Obama keen on Miguna’s book

Thursday July 19, 2012 - The United States government is keenly following reactions to the controversial memoir released by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s coalition adviser Miguna Miguna. This is according to outgoing US ambassador Scott Gration.

Addressing the press at Alkaria power plant on Wednesday, Gration admitted that he had not read the book but termed it as “explosive and interesting to read”.

“I have not read the book yet apart from the reports in the newspaper and we are following it to see how everything develops,” the ambassador said.

Gration said Kenyans should elect credible and corrupt free leaders in the upcoming polls.
He also urged Kenyans not to be divided along tribal lines by corrupt and greedy politicians as witnessed in 2007-08 post election violence.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that the Obama administration had earlier endorsed Prime Minister Raila Odinga as the preferred candidate in the upcoming elections, but now Miguna’s book Peeling Back the Mask has created doubts on PM’s integrity.
