Muthama asks Kibaki’s men to step down

Friday July 13, 2012 - President Mwai Kibaki suffered another blow on Thursday, after Government Chief Whip Johnstone Muthama told the county commissioners to stop clinging on the illegal posts they were accorded and follow the rule of law by returning to the previous posts.

“They must respect the court’s decision which declared their positions illegal and their decision to stay put is the highest order of impunity,”Muthama said.

Muthama  who is also the Kangundo MP said in the spirit of new constitution, Kenyans must bring an end to impunity and respect institutions  if they are to enjoy the full benefits of the constitution.

“True peace is not the absence of war but the presence of justice,” he said.

He said he will request Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka to intervene and advise President Kibaki to recall the commissioners as soon as possible as some of them have started rubbing elected leaders the wrong way.
