MINISKIRT: Western Region girls oppose Central Region girls

MINISKIRT: Western Region girls oppose Central Region girls

Thursday, July 26, 2012 - A few weeks ago a school in Central Region went on strike demanding miniskirts and claimed that they do not want to be dressed in extra long skirts which are not even fitting thus concealing their body shapes.

A week later the girls were admitted back in school and Education Minister Mutula Kilonzo said in a public rally and we quote:

“Why are you dressing them like nuns? God has created her allow her to be modern like Mutula. These girls want to become Kenyan citizens not nuns,”

This brought a lot of controversy with clerics, parents and teachers going up in arms against his statement and demanding Mutula to apologize to the nation.

A few days ago Mutula denied the allegation that he had said girls should wear miniskirts and rather said he was misconstrued by the media.

On Monday, a school in Western province came to light when they publically declared that they would not change their uniform to miniskirts as it is immoral.

A grooming and cleanliness prefect in the school urged the other students across the country to follow their example and dress decently both in school and at home because exposure of the body through miniskirts would lead to attracting sexual predators.

The school principal Dorah Okaalo urged teachers across the country to mould girls into responsible citizens and future leaders.

“Girls should respect the African culture, which stresses the concealing of sensitive parts of the body.” She said.
