A High Court judge on Friday blamed Gichugu MP Martha Karua for his arrest and prosecution for attempted murder four years ago.
Mr Justice G.B.M. Kariuki, who is seeking compensation for “malicious” criminal prosecution, told a court that Ms Karua arranged it in 2008.
Mr Justice Kariuki, who is the presiding judge of the Family Division of the High Court in Nairobi, sued the Attorney-General in 2009, seeking general damages, after he was acquitted of attempted murder charges.
He was a judge at the time of his arrest and prosecution. He claims that the prosecution was “malicious, personal and spiteful”.
Ms Karua, the Justice minister at the time, was the force behind it, he told Justice George Odunga on Friday.
“They put me in police cells at Kamukunji Police Station and it was while I was at Kamukunji that I learned that the problem emanated from then minister for Justice (Ms Karua),” he said.
