Harun Mwau DAREs the US government to link him to DRUGs

Friday July 20TH 2012 –Kilome MP Harun Mwau has dared the American government to present evidence linking him to drug trafficking.

The MP says that the Attorney General has refused to seek any legal assistance from the US government about the allegations levelled against to him. The US government had named the legislator as a drug kingpin. He said that the refusal by the US to show him the evidence infringes on his rights to life and property.

The suit paper reads that in the circumstances, unless the respondent (AG) is ordered to immediately request from US all evidence, documents and any credible information relating to criminal allegations against applicant (Mwau), the applicant stands to suffer irreparable loss. The legislator wants the government to delete any information in any record held by its agencies purporting him as a drug trafficker.

Mwau applauded the government’s effort towards curbing of the problem saying that drug trafficking is a serious crime.

“I am not a drug trafficker and I already said that,’’ he said.

He claims that the allegations leveled against him by the US are pure propaganda that is politically motivated by his rivals and enemies in politics.

Earlier, the AG had been given 60 days to seek evidence and information on drug trafficking from the US government but yesterday when the matter came up, the Public prosecutions director requested the court to allow them time to come on board with the matter.
