A Cabinet minister has reportedly paid Sh4 million to buy the silence of the family of a 17 year old girl whom he made pregnant. It seems the minister was misled to believe by the man who procured the girl, that she was 22 years old. Many weeks after their rendezvous, the minister was taken aback when the 'pimp' told him the girl was pregnant and was demanding that he pay up or she goes public with details of their liaison. The minister has since paid up as he faces a long prison term if convicted of having sex with an underage girl! Eighteen is the age of consent.

The campaign team of a leading presidential candidate is concerned that the continued presence of his wife will hamper the detailed campaign programme they have drawn up for the aspirant. It seems the wife has taken on the responsibility of micro-managing the aspirant's campaigns from deciding the seating arrangement at public rallies to calling the shorts as to who will provide security for her husband when he travels out of the city. The team is now considering organizing a different campaign programme specifically for the wife so that she can stop interfering with the aspirant's programme!

A top city politician recently fell victim to a conman who has been masquerading as a journalist. The man presented the minister with a crude copy of what he said was an opinion poll which indicated the minister was topping the list of those who have so far declared interest in the Nairobu gubernatorial race. Thrilled by the poll which indicated he had a 42 per cent lead against his closest rival who was placed at 19, the assistant minister reportedly paid the 'journalist' thousands of shillings in anticipation of the poll's publication. It seems the 'journalist' has also conned several aspirants in Kisii, Homabay, Migori and Nyamira counties.

A local NGO is currently concluding an audit report on the performance of the office of Director of Public Prosecution since Keriako Tobiko controversially assumed the office last year. We are told the report contains both acts of commission and omission and could form the basis of fresh attempts to remove the DPP.
