New Ford-Kenya presidential aspirant Eugene
Wamalwa has told Prime Minister Raila Odinga to be ready for stiff competition
for the top seat.
Wamalwa, who was addressing a rally in Mfangano
Island, Homa Bay County, told Raila not to assume that he is going to easily
win the presidential race in spite of opinion poll results, which have been
putting him in the lead.
“Let me assure Kenyans that the forthcoming
presidential election is going to elicit the mother of all political battles.
None of the presidential hopefuls will find it easy to enter State House,” he
said.
The Justice minister told Kenyans to shun any
presidential aspirants who are likely to stir violence before and after the
General Election.
He urged presidential hopeful to campaign on a
platform of ideas. “Our economy is still lagging behind and it is high time we
deviated from rhetoric to issue based politics. That is the only way we can
transform the lives of citizens of this country.”
He called upon presidential aspirants to promote
peace and unity to avoid any violence during the polls.
The Saboti MP said the last post election
violence caused great damage to the economy.
Warm reception
Wamalwa was warmly received by residents of Homa
Bay County in Mbita town, Rusinga and Mfangano Islands and finally Homa Bay
town.
On Rusinga Island he visited the family of the
late Tom Mboya and promised that the Government would deliver the findings on
Mboya’s assassination to the family once the Truth Justice and Reconciliation
Commission is through with its enquiry.
The New Ford-Kenya leader also opened his
party’s Homa Bay County office in Mbita town.
Wamalwa was accompanied by The Independent Party
leader Kalembe Ndile and Nominated MP Milly Odhiambo among others.
