Statistics have put road accidents ahead of HIV and Aids as a leading cause of deaths in the country (file) Six people died on the spot Tuesday morning and several others injured in a road accident on Mombasa road, near the Machakos junction. Deputy traffic commandant Samuel Kimaru confirmed the deaths saying that the accident involved a head-on collision between a canter truck and a car. Eye witnesses say the car, a probox which was coming from Nairobi was speeding and was trying to overtake the canter when the accident occurred. The injured were rushed to Machakos District Hospital.
