United Republican Party presidential aspirant William Ruto's tour of Teso tomorrow will unveil new alignments that may prove an acid test for ODM, the dominant party in the region. The Eldoret North MP will be visiting Teso to market his party and to meet the people where he is expected to address two rallies. Teso is perceived to be Prime Minister Raila Odinga's stronghold given the number of votes he got from the area in the 2007 general election.
Tomorrow, Ruto is expected to receive a Ford People national official, who is expected to ditch his party for URP. He is also expected to receive to the party three former ODM officials from the area. Imoite, who is the architect of Ruto's visit, said he opted to ditch his party of 10 years because it will not field a presidential candidate. “If one is not in ODM then you are in URP or possibly in TNA," Imoite said, adding there will be more surprise news for URP.
The Eldoret North MP will start his tour with a rally in Angurai market in Teso North before holding the second in Amukura market, Teso South district. Angurai division with three Councillors is still reeling from the fact that ODM did not win a single civic seat. The scenario was blamed on irrational nomination exercise by the orange party which saw popular candidates rigged out.
