PM Raila Odinga with former President Moi at Kabarak/PMPS
NAIROBI, Kenya, Jul 8 – Presidential hopefuls were on Sunday pitching camps in various parts of the country with Prime Minister Raila Odinga heading to Rift Valley region beginning with a church service at Kabarak High School together with former President Daniel arap Moi.
The PM is later scheduled to hold a public rally at Ravine town in the larger Baringo County later Sunday afternoon.
Also in his quest for votes, Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta will Sunday start a two-day tour of Nyamira and Kisii counties.
Kenyatta who is accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister Sam Ongeri and Assistant Minister Wilfred Ombui among other leaders will begin his road show at Ekerenyo and moves to Nyamira, Magombo and Keroka in Nyamira County.
Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi continues with his rallies in the vote rich Rift Valley after Saturday’s well attended rally in Kapsabet.
Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka hosted politicians from Kituyi County at his Karen Home, ahead of his week-long whirlwind tour of lower Eastern province beginning Monday.
United Republican Party Leader William Ruto will be attending a retreat for his party in Naivasha on Sunday.
Narc- Kenya Leader Martha Karua is campaigning in Kakamega County, while Kenya National Congress presidential aspirant Peter Kenneth attended a church service in Mombasa after he hosted a town hall-style meeting in Ukunda on Saturday.
Former Education PS Prof James Ole Kiyapi who is popularizing his bid on Build and Restore Kenya Party ticket will conclude his weekend tour of Nandi County. While Gachoka MP Mutava Musyimi on Sunday attended a service at Africa Inland Church-Garissa which was hit by a grenade attack last Sunday.
In the attack 17 people including two police officers were killed when Al Shabaab militia sprayed people with bullets as they attended Sunday morning Mass at AIC Church and injuring several others at Catholic Church in a simultaneous attacks.
More than 40 people have been arrested as the government beefed up security in the region. Area police officers and administrators have been moved in a bid to beat the terrorists who have been hitting the largely Muslim inhabited region.
