Apparently he had submitted an opinion piece to the Nation, not yet published, and that I’d not come across, lionising Mr Odinga for being first in owning a Hummer in Kenya.
He took the view that the Hummer was indeed a symbol of Mr Odinga’s masculinity, power, strength and all that.
A cursory look at the two pieces indicated that they were not similar, save for the topic being Mr Odinga and the Hummer.
That’s Miguna Miguna for you. Over the next few years, I was to differ with him intermittently when he submitted pieces for publication with the demand that they be not edited in any way, even for length, punctuation, typos or whatever else.
My usual response was that such demands from an outsider can never, and will never, be accommodated. Then I had to brace myself for the predictable histrionics.
