United Democratic Forum presidential hopeful
Musalia Mudavadi has said that he is ready to dialogue with Eldoret North MP
William Ruto to forge unity ahead of the General Election. The Deputy Prime
Minister said he had no differences with Ruto, adding that they are both
seeking voter support for their presidential bids.
The Sabatia MP was speaking to hundreds of
residents in Nandi Hills after a joint meeting between elders from Western
Province and Nandi County on Sunday where he sought their support.
Mudavadi later visited Koitalel Mausoleum where he paid his
respects to the legendary Nandi leader as a mark of cementing the agreed unity
with the residents. Mudavadi said he had good relations with Ruto, adding that
they were both in the forefront during the mediation that was led by UN
Secretary-General Kofi Annan after the disputed presidential election results
in 2007.
He said: “We were in the forefront with Ruto at Nairobi Serena
Hotel as we struggled to find a way of uniting Kenyans. I believe that we shall
unite with him and promote unity among Kenyans”.
Mudavadi spoke ahead of a public campaign rally that will be held
today at Kipchoge Keino Stadium in Kapsabet. UDF supporters from the region are
also expected to attend the rally. Lurambi MP Manyala Keya, Yusuf Chanzu
(Vihiga), UDF party chairman Hassan Kiptoo Osman, Secretary General Abraham
Limoh, former Nominated MP Mark Too, elders from Western Province, Nandi and
Uasin Gishu counties accompanied Mudavadi. Mr Too who spoke before
Mudavadi, said the unity between URP and UDF parties will be a success that
will ensure that a reliable leader is elected as President.
