KIBAKI split over UHURU and MUSALIA

KIBAKI split over UHURU and MUSALIA

Sunday, the 29th of July 2012 - Despite plenty of news reports saying that President Mwai Kibaki is confident about who he wants to endorse to be his successor, sources close to the goings on at State House tell the Kenyan DAILY POST that the first residence is split between those forces who want the president to back Uhuru Kenyatta and those who want him to throw his support behind Uhuru’s opposite number in the coalition Musalia Mudavadi.

One source farther alleges that those who are pulling Kibaki both ways on his succession are mostly worried about their own fate once he leaves;

“I can tell you for a fact that some of these men are worried they will be left in the wilderness once Kibaki retires,” said the source.

Those who are opposed to Uhuru’s bid, says the source, do so because they feel he won’t easily fall into line because he has an independent streak;

“They feel that Uhuru has already cut his niche in national politics and was, therefore, going for the seat as his own man,” said the source.

The source says that most of those who are urging the president to back Mudavadi are doing so because they feel that (just like Mudavadi) he understands real politick and will not want to rock the boat.
