Kenyan President Mwai Kibaki arrived in Bujumbura, Burundi Sunday afternoon for a three day State visit.
The plane carrying President Kibaki and his delegation touched down at Bujumbura International Airport shortly before 4 pm local time.
On arrival the president was warmly received by Kenya's Ambassador to Burundi Benjamin Mweri and senior Burundian officials.
While in Bujumbura, President Kibaki, who is Chair of East African Community (EAC), will join other dignitaries among them invited Heads of State and government for the country's golden jubilee of independence celebrations.
During the State visit, the President will lead the Kenyan delegation in bilateral talks with their Burundian counterparts co-chaired by President Pierre Nkurunziza before the two leaders witness the signing of agreements of cooperation.
The Head of State will address the Burundi National Assembly and later meet the Kenyan Diaspora in Burundi.
The President is accompanied by Cabinet Ministers Professor Sam Ongeri, Dalmas Otieno, Moses Wetangula, Yusuf Haji, Dr. Mohamed Kuti, Prof. Margret Kamar and Assistant minister Bifwoli Wakoli among others.
