Monday July 16, 2012 - Nominated MP Rachael Shebesh almost fought with Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s wife over the role Ida is playing in Raila’s presidential campaigns.
Ida seems to have outwitted some of the leaders when she managed to get her allies elected to the Orange Women Democratic League organised by Rachael Shebesh.
On Saturday, during the ODM women’s convention, Shebesh accused Ida of elbowing them out of the strategy and campaign teams as well.
The elections turned chaotic with furious MP Rachael Shebesh almost roughing up engineer Philip Okundi, the ODM National Elections board chairman.
According to the lobby chaired by the MP, last Saturday’s events at Bomas of Kenya were a clear example of how Raila’s wife is working behind the scenes to sideline some ODM leaders.
“We are upset that despite the work we have done in the last few weeks with the ODM Reloaded team where we have transversed the whole country campaigning for Raila, Ida does not seem to see our contribution. This is not time to have turf wars. Lets accommodate everybody,” Shebesh said.
Mama Ida is understood to be interested in controlling her husband’s campaign machinery with an iron fist.
Ida does not have a formal role in the Prime Minister’s presidential campaign team but according to Miguna Miguna in his book Peeling Back The Mask, she is the most powerful of the PM’s advisers.
