Eldoret North MP William Ruto has challenged two senior Rift Valley politicians to go for the presidency on an ODM ticket instead of ‘bowing’ before Prime Minister Raila Odinga to pick either of them as his running mate in the coming General Election.
The United Republican Party leader accused Roads Minister Franklin Bett and Tinderet MP Henry Kosgey of “spreading falsehood” about the unity of the Kalenji community.
Mr Ruto, who stepped up his campaigns in Rift Valley yesterday said the region was united contrary to claims by some local leaders.
Divide the community
Exuding confidence that the URP would form the next government, Mr Ruto told Mr Bett and Mr Kosgey that their struggle to become the PM’s running mate should not be used to divide the community.
URP, he said, would strengthen education, agriculture and other sectors of development so as to produce personnel with relevant skills that conform to the country’s economic and labour needs.
Speaking at Silibwet sports ground in Bomet Central Division, he said that his government would provide interest-free business loans for women and youth.
MPs Samuel Poghisio and Chirau Makwere as well as Beatrice Kones and Joyce Laboso, who are perceived to be friends of Mr Odinga, accompanied him.
