ROADS Minister Franklin Bett has urged Eldoret North MP William Ruto to go slow in his political ambition lest he self-destructs. The minister took issue with remarks made by the Ruto in Bomet over the weekend, terming them insulting. Ruto had on Sunday dismissed Bett and suspended Industrialisation Minister Henry Kosgey's bids for ODM's running mate.
He asked Ruto to concentrate on URP matters rather than fight other leaders. “It is unfortunate for Ruto, who claims to be a nationalist, to go round the country attacking other leaders,” Bett told the Star yesterday at Olenguruone, Nakuru County. He said that the URP candidate should present his agenda for Kenya rather than antagonize other leaders. “Personally I hate discussing people but I love discussing issues which improve the lives of Kenyans,” he said.
The minister warned that Ruto's presidential ambitions were ruining his otherwise bright political future and reminded him that there are no permanent enemies in politics. Bett reiterated his desire to become Raila's running mate, flaunting his long public service career as his strenght. He urged Kenyans to give them a chance to transform the country by electing them in next year's polls. The minister cautioned Kenyans against joining tribal parties. “I don’t support political parties centered on tribalism but support the party with a national outlook and cutting across other communities,” he said.

The Bureti MP noted that he has given political direction to the Kalenjin community in the past and his predictions had always come true.

“In 2002 I told you the way to go was Narc and even though you defied me it still won. In 2005 I told you to reject the then Wako draft and you listened to me. In 2007 you listened to me and now I want you to listen to me concerning 2012,” said the MP.
