Energy Assistant Minister Magerer Langat has challenged rebel ODM led by Eldoret MP William Ruto to form their own party since they are party less.
Magerer argued that the United Democratic Movement UDM that Ruto’s group claims to own belongs to other people.
He dismissed pressure from Ruto’s allies led by Cherangany MP Joshua Kuttuny to abandon ODM and join UDM.
“UDM has its owners and it is not logic for a friend to invite you to his friend’s house,’ Magerer told Kuttuny at a funds drive of Chematich AIC in the latter Cherangany Constituency.
Kuttuny had warned Magerer that he and others in ODM risk losing their parliamentary seat next year if they stick to ODM.
“My friend the journey ahead of us is difficult and don’t stick to ODM which has chased away your own brothers. A new political wave is on the offing and you would be left out,” Kuttuny cautioned the assistant Minister.
Magerer said he is not a coward and would stick with ODM and challenged the rebel MPs to form their own party before inviting him to join them.
“I’m comfortable in ODM and I would only join you when you have a party because UDM has its owners,” he responded.
The Belgut MP likened the disgruntled ODM MPs as hunters chasing two birds using one stone.
“A good hunter cannot let a bird at hand to go and go back to chase two others in the bush. It is a risk adventure. Let me enjoy the bread I have at hand,” he argued.
Kuttuny claimed that Kalenjin MPs allied the Prime Minister Raila Odinga would face rough time next year and asked them to consider their stand.
“These MPs should read the signs. They should not wait until the drum is beaten. Time is now for them to join us or wait for their political oblivion,” warned Kuttuny.
