Newly appointed East African Community minister Musa Sirma has dismissed the G 7 Alliance as of no consequence to ODM's bid to win the Presidency in the 2012 general election. “The so-called G 7 is just but a gang of groups like Musumbiji which terrorize people's psychology but are well aware that it stands no chance of winning in a democratic election,” he said.
Sirma said ODM is still strong in Rift Valley despite claims by William Ruto that it has been subdued by UDM Party which the Eldoret North MP will use in his bid for presidency in next year's elections.
Sirma was speaking at St Veronica Kongurapus Catholic Church in Teso South District on Sunday where he presided over a funds drive in aid of the church construction. A total of Sh200, 000 was raised with the minister donating Sh50,000 and area MP Sospeter Ojaamong Sh25,000.
Sirma said Saboti MP Eugene Wamalwa has become like a messenger who is being used by some members of the Alliance to fulfill their futile dreams. He said Prime Minister Raila Odinga is the best bet for presidency and told the G 7 to brace for a bruising battle when the whistle is blown.
Sirma challenged women to fight for parliamentary seats if they want to raise the one third number required by the constitution, instead of waiting for the slots to be set aside for them which is impossible.
He told the Teso community to back Ojaamong's bid for governor in the Busia County saying he had known the Amagoro MP since 2002 as a leader of unquestionable integrity.
Ojaamong said he was ready to sacrifice his elective position in the County but ensure Prime Minister Raila Odinga was elected the fourth President of Kenya.
Father Saferio Erubot of Amukura Parish said lynching of theft suspects had increased in Amukura and called on the youth to seek divine intervention.
Christians of Kongurapus Sub-Parish have been praying under a tree for the last 15 years with hopes that their church which has reached lintel stage will be completed to enable them start using it. Earlier, Sirma laid a foundation stone for the proposed St. Michael Apatit Secondary School.
