ODM should give all aspirants a level playing ground

By Felix Owaga
At a meeting of ODM aspirants on 24th Dec 2012, at Sawagongo High school, the participants were informed that the party has made a unilateral decision  to support and endorse Hon. Oburu as the sole candidate to contest governorship in Siaya county.
The local area MP went on to say that other aspirants should look for other parties or vie other positions. This is undemocratic and unfair as it does not give Siaya residents a chance to elect their leaders in a fair and democratic process.
The constitution which we passed in 2010 stipulates in article 37 that every citizen is free to make political choices which includes right to vote, join political party, campaign etc.
But as for Siaya county residents, their right of electing whoever they want has been trampled upon by senior ODM officials who are self-centered and wish to enhance their own political ambition
All said and done my name will be in the ballot box for the post of governor. This will be like the battle of David and Goliath ahead.
