Last week's Miss University Africa 2012 was a great start to the year's upcoming big events. The event which was held at the Carnivore’s Simba Salon, attracted Kenyans from all walks of life. The pageant was divided into three main categories; a talent show, creative evening wear and African wear. The 1st runners up went to Grace Kariuki while 2nd runners up was Anne Kariuki both from Kenyatta University. Camilla Milton of Catholic University of East Africa won the title after battling it out with  twenty two other finalists. Camilla's brothers who were part of the audience were so excited about their sister's victory that they could not wait for her to be crowned. They jumped on stage and hugged her in joy. Camilla walked away with a laptop, Sh50,000, a night at the Hilton and a year of medical cover from M-Care.
She will also represent Kenya at the continental pageant in Gambia in March, this year.  The event was attended by two politicians Nairobi City Council’s town clerk Phillip Kisia and presidential aspirant Raphael Tuju. The two took the platform to campaign for their respective seats and offered cash to the contestants. Kiss 100 Shaffie took the opportunity to tutor the two politicians on street lingo. P-Unit's Gabu remixed some of their well known songs to suit the politicians. Another MC of the night Fred Omondi did not disappoint either with his usual comical poetic lyrics.
