Better Pill Productions will be staging their play titled For Love’s Sake on Valentine’s day at the Kenya National Theatre. For love’s sake is rib cracking comedy that satirizes the role of parents in choosing spouses for their children with focus on the tribal and financial bias involved in the process in our society today. In the play, Lucy is in love with a young man who is disqualified by her father on the grounds of coming from a poor background and being of a different, less respected tribe. He would rather have her marry a wealthy friend, Wesonga and is set on seeing this marriage take place. The pressure on Lucy becomes unbearable and she decides to go numb - never to talk again if only to stall the set marriage.
The show that starts at 6:30 pm is directed by Edijoe Kihara and Peter Kawa while the Production’s stage managers are Sarah Mwihaki and Charity Njogu. The cast includes Njeri Maina (Lucy), Ruth Mumbi (playing Betty, Martin's troublesomewife), Mark Kaiyare (playing Jimmy, the unwanted lover), Aziricome Andove, Samuel Ng'ang'a, Emmanuel Amimo, Grace Ogawo, Sarah Mwihaki and Denis Muchai.
