An hopeful for the Kitui South parliamentary seat has rolled out his strategy to sponsor sporting activities and reach out to the young voters. Cyrus Musyoka, 24, said he intends to sponsor football, netball and basketball tournaments for the youth and reward winning teams with cash, uniforms and trophies.
Speaking at Mutomo market on Boxing Day during a football match dubbed Cyrus Cup which was attended by Harambee Stars coach Francis Kimanzi, Musyoka said his intention is to bring the youth together through sports.
“We want the youth to be organised so that every weekend there will be a tournament. Having the coach of the national team at this tournament shows how serious we are in making sure that youths not only participate in sports but also that good talent is spotted and nurtured,” Musyoka said.
The businessman popularly known among his peers as Sonko said that a youth centre will be opened at Ikanga market in January to train young people on income generating activities. They will be given capital to start businesses, he said.
Musyoka who plans to contest on Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka’s Wiper Democratic Party ticket said that he is an agent of change. He said he would lift the youth from poverty and disillusionment they have been subjected to by the old guard.
