JUJA police were yesterday piecing up evidence surrounding the grisly murder of a G4S guard and an attack on a friend on Christmas eve. Police investigating the case said they had interrogated several people after the body of 28-year-old Steven Otieno Lumumba was discovered at a pond in Valley View Estate yesterday.
His colleague Sarry Junior is nursing serious injuries at a Nairobi hospital. The two were attacked while going to a friend's party in Juja town. Police said the two men left their Nairobi’s Tena Estate home on the evening of December 24 to attend a party at Kalimoni along Kenyatta Road. It is claimed they failed to locate the house theynwere going to and were attacked while trying to trace it. “We suspect they were attacked by either people who suspected them of being robbers or they might have been victims of violent robbery. All options are still open in our investigations,” said an officer from Kalimoni AP post.
Sarry sustained serious panga cuts and was unconscious at the scene of attack before good Samaritans found him and took him to hospital on the same night. A frantic search by relatives and police for the missing Otieno led to a horrific discovery at a pond on Wednesday afternoon. A neighbour who was constructing a septic tank alerted police about a body that was floating in a pond in his compound. Relatives identified the body which had deep cuts and had started decomposing.
