UDM presidential hopeful William Ruto has accused some senior government officials of undermining the reform process in the country. He said the high profile individuals in government were being used to prevent modernisation of the railway line and making the port of Mombasa a free port.
Addressing Mombasa residents at Matsangoni Primary School, Ruto said such politicians, who are colluding with tycoons, have no place in the next government.  "All tycoons involved in barring the port from benefiting all are selfish individuals who have no place in this nation," he said.
He was speaking at a fundraising where he donated Sh400,000. "We are going to change the face of the port and the railway shall be modernised,'' he said.
The UDM leader said drug barons will not have a place in his government if they do not reform. "Coast for many years is known to be a drug haven but we shall not allow few selfish people to spoil the lives of our youths. We will crack don the cartels for the benefit of our children,'' he said. Ruto said the government should also step up security if they want to achieve the Vision 2030.
Currently, he said, the country had not managed to reach over one million tourist that was not half of the vision 2030 plan. "If there is security investors have confidence with our countrythere foe there is need for security and tourism will boom so as to create employment opportunities,'' he said.
